8:04 “In retrospect, I never gave up. No matter where I was, I always strived to be better than who I was yesterday” You are such an inspiration, thank you 🙏🏻😊
Hey Pirates, CMU is not a well-known university in South Korea. Also, the job market there was brutal with youth unemployment rate going over 12% at one point.
See your $360k offer is well earned and deserved it’s crazy you went to Carnegie Mellon but companies where not snatching you straight out of school but still i love your journey I’m starting mine now i graduate in 2023 and pray for success
I loved this video so much! You never gave up, always kept pushing on! I am about to start college for computer science in software engineering, I am so nervous but since a kid I’ve always wanted to code and create things with technology. I’m currently a full time truck driver and going to be going to school for computer science . It’s videos like yours and my self driven motivation that keep me going. Thank you so much !
Thank you for making this video. I'm around your age (3-4 years younger) and I started my coding journey in 2018 eventually landing a job in jan of 2020 (at 28 years old). I'm definitely on the older side and started my career later compared to my co-workers. This video helped me remember the good and the bad times along the way. I also had many rejection and failures, but like you, I'm here now doing what I love.
Thanks for your video!!! I couldn't believe that you experience these difficulties, at the beginning I thought that you might get lots of offers after graduations, since I feel that you probably have strong abilities in CS. Until now, I know that not only me faced lots of obstacles about finding a job. Life is hard, let's fighting to overcome obstacles!
Such an inspiring story! I started my career path more smoothly and early than others but through this path, I changed my direction and had to stop to look for my own way many times. Now I am still walking on the way that I am creating by myself and do not know if I know where is my final destination. Sometimes i doubt it, sometimes I strongly feel determined. However, I still keep trying and trying to find my place where I could finally settle down
This video randomly appear on my feed, I watched the whole thing and it made me a emotional a bit. You are such an inspiration. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing this. I started my journey at 24, I always wanted to code and never really did it for one reason or another. Now I am making money I never thought of making and having fun in a job I love. Thank you for sharing PK. Much love ❤
This is inspiring😭 never thought you've gone through a lot of hardships. Thanks for sharing this story of yours with us!!❤❤
omg what a beautiful and inspiring video! I was scrolling my youtube and started to see this video.. and now I'm crying lol. thanks for keep going with yout channel, and cheers to u wife for motivating u to create this channel. cheers from brazil.
wow this video is simply amazing not gonna lie you should be a voice over narrator. Your voice is just so calming and i loved the quote in the end as well as the one piece references. I hope i get to be like you one day and make my family proud. Have a good one!
I found your channel a few months back in the weirdest way, but your eagerness to grow further has kept me watching your videos over and over. This was a great one.
Thank you for this video! I was unmotivated to go to my muay thai training, and I wanted to study one more hour. But actually, those activities like exercising, learning a new language, playing a new instrument and reading are actually very important as well. If we rely ONLY in the coding It can be bad for our mental health
I work as a product manager at a tech company and I started reading one piece two weeks ago bc of you!
Wow. This detailed explanation gives so much more understanding of who you are—especially with the many failures and rejections you experienced. On the surface level, I had always thought that with a degree from CMU, your career was nothing but smooth. Watching how you got rejected from so many companies in Korea was shocking. Nice ending 👍🏻 Now you can freely roam the vast sea of network. Don’t know if all your subs would be able to fit on your boat 🤣🤣
I came across this video when I was feeling pressured by my programming work. Thank you so much for your honest sharing.
As an incoming CMU freshman, this video is so inspiring. That last part really resonated with me! Congratulations on being where you are today.
Thank you for sharing. I myself just made switch career from a mechanic to being a Full Stack guy. I'm already struggling not just the job but trying to fit in with the company but seeing your vid, it ok to struggle but dont give up.
