This beautifully captures the essence of Stoicism—true strength lies not in controlling the chaos around us, but in mastering our reactions to it. Calmness is not weakness; it’s power, discipline, and freedom. Thank you for sharing!
You have power over your mind not outside events 💯
Between every event and your response lies your power to choose. Reaction is automatic. Response is deliberate.

Learning to respond instead of react is a powerful skill that transforms how we handle challenges. Stoicism teaches us that by mastering our emotions and pausing before acting, we gain clarity, control, and inner peace. Calmness isn’t weakness—it's strength under control.
Training your mind to respond instead of reacting is a core principle of Stoicism. It involves cultivating self-control and mindfulness, allowing you to approach challenges with thoughtfulness rather than impulsivity. ❤

By practicing mindfulness, we can stay calm and make wiser decisions, no matter the situation
Here is a real world example that i think many can relate to. I’ve been studying stoicism for years now. I have all the books and listen to all the videos. I find it a great way to start everyday and in times of depression and distress i turn to these videos and books for comfort. But….. I’m 6 months into a new paralegal gig and the past 6 months have been a steep learning curve. The other day my boss comes storming over, hands me a paper filled with notes and wants 4 documents done within the hour. Its a RUSH. I knew that there were parts of this task i wasnt quite confident with. All of my big grand stoic strategies went out the window as i flew into a state of absolute panic. I couldnt even think straight. This was a perfect time to practice stoic resilience and i utterly failed. So i wonder. When the pressure is turned up will i always react in this way.? Lose my shit? Or will this stoic teachings actually take hold? The episode was a disappointment. I handled it awfully and could not get my bearings
Controlling your emotions is the key to mastering any situation in life.
Easier said than done—how do you train yourself to respond instead of react?
