"The Joy" (the last episode in this video) scared the hell out of me in elementary school lol. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night because I would imagine joy-infected gumball and darwin hiding under my dressing table šš
Hear me out. The scariest episodes of Gumball are not just some episodes, but IT'S THE ENTIRE F*CKING VOID ARC: - The Kids (switching voices) - The Void (intro to Elmore's demise) - The Oracle (Knowing Barbara is basically an all seeing entity) -The Nobody (Intro to Rob being the main Antagonist) - The Disaster (pt 1) - The Rerun (pt 2) - The Signal (G n D knows the truth) - The Copycats (another voice switch) - The Future (Basically same thing as The Oracle) - The Inquisition (We all know abt this) PS: The Void just resets everything like cliffhangers and other unknown scary endings.
Every episode in Gumball is scary if it has the scary clown secretly peeking from afar š
one thing he forgot to mention about "the joy" was tobais's survival. Tobias is a rainbow colored jock character in the Gumball canon, who, bc of his rainbow hue, was avoided by the zombies during the episode (there was a quick gag abt it). I always headcannoned that tobias was the one who played the music after ms. simian and the others got infected. he probably even had his own "hero moment" about it since he has a really jerky personality lol š
Gumball is a kids show, but there are so many hidden references to dark themes such as severe mental disorders and just pure nightmare fuel. (Yes, I'm looking at you, Little Teddy.)
This episode left me disturbed as a kid. Because it ended on a hopeless note. Miss Simian gets infected before she could properly reveal the cure, implying that in this episode, everyone gets infected and thereās no saving anyone
that one clip of gumball and Darwin moving their heads like the clowns genuinely scares the hell out of me every time
Honestly, I was so so obsessed with the amazing world of gumball when I was younger that none of the episodes were scary to me, they were just either funny or really, really interesting. But looking back at it now that Iām 21, I can see how some people will find it scary
11:48 Richardās Wonder Hug is what caused Gumball and Darwin to gradually become happier and happier (seemingly against their will) to the point of becoming WAY too impossibly, UNNATURALLY happy. In other words, Richard inadvertently gave his sons the Joy virus. I think Alanās ādictatorā persona (from that one episode where Gumball and Darwin found out his supposed āsecret planā of making everyone happy no matter the cost by trapping them in Happy Camps) would be perfectly fine with the happiness plague because he secretly wants to make everyone happy whether they like it or not, according to that same other episode Iāve previously mentioned, at leastā¦
You forgot to mention that Richard started the infection with a hug that blows up THE SAME particles that the joy zombies have. Love the vid btw āā Edit: CHILL OUT AND THANK YOU FIR ALL THEM LIKES ššš
i have noticed, many older cartoons always had to make at least ONE zombie style episode
"The Joy" had ALWAYS yiven me the heebee jeebees
creepy smiles are so much scarier than angry faces
The joy scared the absolute SHIT out of me when I was young. So much to the point one time when Cartoon Network was live and it was airing that episode, I immediately turned of the TV and waited for the episode to end, but I recently decided to watch it again to see if it was that bad, and I couldnāt tell if I was the only one who still gets concerned
The most scariest thing in amazing world of Gumball is that clown who can see us through our tvās
The Joy being about insanely joyous victims is like how Night of the Living Dead is about voracious reanimated corpses, as the joyous touching others is like how zombies bite others.
Ahh yes... I remember watching that episode "The Signal" many years ago and genuinely thinking something was wrong with the TV.
"The Puppets" is basically a crossover between Gumball and "Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared"
The puppets was by far my FAVORITE episode, because it exposed me to such an cool animation style and mixing of mediums!! To this day in my top 10.
