David Gates and Bread where a great band. David Gates is my favorite composer in the 1970's. He composed very melodic melodies that people could remember and sing.

Im dying from cancer. My babyhood songs like these, help me process the reality of dying at 47 yrs old. Isnt that the dangest? Right when I'd started to have fun in life again, getting to really know and love myself. Maybe that's when heaven called me home. Stage 4 cancer, i opted out of chemo. That drug is ugly and shows it! C'ya's around! Thank you for hitting the soul in my ears to the 💜.

I still relive the moment I fell in love with my wife while this album was being played. There we were, a small band of teens returning to our hometown after an outing to another, at the other end of our Caribbean island. We all grew up together and were now finding ourselves, just out of college, ripe for ‘first loves’, romance. It was around dusk in the evening, sun descending in the west, tranquil quiet in the bus but each of us wrapped in thoughts of a girl or boy within arm’s length. There’s no better way, time of day to fall in love, no greater love song than ‘If’ for that once in a lifetime, magic moment.
