@Tammy-zr9zw

WOW! I have NEVER seen a design video with more useful, practical advice! I will utilize all of it when designing our bathrooms. Thank you so much!

@jupiternorthe1535

Omg I’ve never watch anything so thoughtful, practical, and calm where I can focus on YouTube.

@JetsetterAve

I need a video like this for every room in the house😍 kitchen next??

@timward3116

Yeh, this video really brought a good dose of reality to design. We almost never see these kinds of considerations in any sort of design related to homes - whether it be architectural design of the whole house or merely the design of rooms. This has always been my complaint about so many of the beautiful homes I see on YouTube. The designers designed the house/room to impress but never think about cleaning, painting, accessing certain spots, fixing, or how the house will age.

@twistoflex2983

Great video, I took a lot away from this... very informative. Thank you 😊 💓.
The only thing I'll say is that i would steer away from mosaic type tiles in your shower.
I'm a Building inspector, and they are notorious for deteriorating much faster than large format tiles.
This is a huge problem as your waterproofing membrane will also deteriorate as a result.
It's just something to think about from a longevity perspective 😊.
Another tip for ventilation is to have at least 15mm gap under your door, or install a grill into the bottom half of the door.
Your fan needs to draw air in to work

@stevepest4143

Use painter's tape to lay out niches, vanities, etc..the visual both guides contractors and gives you a more solid feel for how the space is used.

@BarbSchryver

I take 60 seconds to squeegee. Keep it in the shower. Keeps glass looking good and if you have hard water, makes it easier to clean. Highly agree and recommend. Seems annoying at first but it becomes habit. I do it after I throw my towel on but after I squeegee, I’m partially dry

@Liam_Maddog

I have done three home remodels and this woman knows what she is talking about! If you choose a busy design, prepare to hate it before long.

@joyfulmessenger

I love polished chrome plumbing fixtures. It shows me when it needs a quick wipe with a dry microfiber cloth that I keep on a hook inside the cabinet door. Same for my door handles. They are always spotless and it takes very little effort. It’s as quick as flushing the toilet. Done. Clean. Guest ready.

@alanda8109

Just found your channel and so glad I did! Your advice is so practical and intelligent! I am a 70 yr old lady without much decorating sense and in charge of some daunting projects...with a small budget...so no room for big mistakes! Thank you so much for all your shared wisdom.

@sesame-dl2ym

I have a couple of suggestions.. niches, place them at the back of shower, they collect less water under the bottles and you don’t see them as easy. It’s bad to see bottles from the outside in the center of a beautiful tile wall. Ventilation… get one that has heat and nightlight. They’re wonderful!. Heated floor..we have placed ours in front of vanity, toilet and shower. They come on mats so you don’t have to do entire bathroom if it’s large.

@Not2daysatan

Matte black is a nightmare in Florida! Replacing my faucet the third time in 2 years, I went chrome! Such a massive improvement !

@janh5199

You failed to mention if you are doing a remodel that gives you wall access to the shower/bath area, install support boards (I forget their technical name) between the studs. Then as you age there will be adequate areas to add safety bars when they become necessary. And if you are building your forever home, make at least one bathroom that can easily be remodeled to be handicapped accessible.

@ChitownEcho

I highly recommend Wet and Forget Weekly Shower Cleaner. You can purchase online and in many retailers. My glass shower is never spotted, and I don't use a squeegee. It will also dissolve old stains without scrubbing. The woman who cleans my apartment every other week thinks it is amazing!

@maureenschroeder4963

This is the most helpful video on bathrooms I have ever seen! Such good advice! Thank you!

@GG-si7fw

I remember living in an old apartment, over 80 years old, with the tiny hex tiles 1-1.5" in the whole bathroom floor and agree that it helps with traction. People shouldn't update to a newer look because trends. The tiling was over 80 years old and original. The workmanship was amazing and has held up. That was 25 years ago. I bet it's still there and holding up well.

@summercrook7521

I wanted white grout in my shower and I just sealed the hell out of it and it's been just fine. I've barely had to clean it at all and I've had it for almost a year! If you seal it properly, it really is okay. Also, we squeegee our glass and it really is a quick step and once you get into the routine, it becomes second nature. Takes like a minute max and keeps our glass looking good.
Another important suggestion that many people don't focus on as important as it should be is ventilation. Get the right ventilation for your space, it makes a huge difference! Don't skimp here!

@basilbcf

Some great pointers. I’m a DIYer doing a complete remodel of the master bathroom. I wanted the alcove tub/showerto be the main focus so I replaced the large shower window with a beautiful glass block window that has a splash of blue and turquoise blocks. I tiled the space with large format “slate green” tiles. For the floor, walls, vanity etc, i went with subtle colors that compliment the shower space. Speaking of vanities I am installing a James Martin Malibu vanity that, if I’m not mistaken, is exactly like the one you show at around 20:22 in the video. The only difference is that I’m installing Kohler “vessel” sinks in emerald green.

@Taydad

Genuinely the best video of this genre ive EVER seen. we are going through some pretty broad remodels right now and the practical advice she gave was absolutely eye-opening and valued. So grateful to have found you!!!

@melissacaintravis4656

About to custom build for the second time, and we are planning another open shower. Zero glass to clean is heavenly! To stay warm, I recommend installing an exhaust fan / heater combo in the ceiling near the shower entrance.
