@Penguin2923

Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton. One of the most gripping prologues in a book, ever. I would also say the same for many Wheel of Time books, but I've never had the experience of being gripped throughout those books as I have with Jurassic Park.

@LilMorphineAnnie

Piranesi was that book for me

@rachel1021

For me it was The Twisted Ones by T. Kingfisher.

@StrangeQuack

"Memory of Water" by Emmi Itäranta, I've read it yesterday. Just wanted to do 2-3 hours reading and then some housework... Well... Put on "dark fantasy cello music for deep focus" and give it a go! Eerie, poetic, dystopian, catching in it's strange beauty, Emmi writes beautifully. Couldn't stop!

@Joeyolwagen

Empire of the Vampire, the first page sets a tone for the world like nothing else I've ever read.

@Barryislarge

Sodergren's the Haar really did that for me. Muriel is a queen

@danielaweberdani

recently it was convenience
store woman, i read it in a day
torn between loving her and
just relating to her to tears,
thanks for the rec, btw. 😊

@annirose5835

Sayaka Murata - Konbini ningen it is amazing

@wewillrust

Recently, The Bluest Eyes by Toni Morrison and The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang

@juliasokol8121

Flowers for Algernon! The narration is intriguing from the start :-)

@ThePortjumper

Recently? Dungeon Crawler Carl. A page-turner and just so downright absurd and easily digestible. I had a lot of fun reading that.

@Elis_the_Fabulous

Lulu Dean's Little Library of Banned Books which I just finished is one that is going to live in my brain rent free for a while.

@GentleReader01

Clive Barker, Weaveworld. “Nothing ever begins. There is no first moment from which this or any other story springs…” followed immediately by engaging action and characterization. Also, The Damnation Game, with a peculiar bit of gambling amid the ruins in 1945 Germany.

Also, Kristine Kathryn Rusch’s Diving Universe series, which has kept me moving through more than a dozen novellas and novels, each strongly opening with solid hooks and rewarding my attention each time.

@sarahj308

Its not out yet but i read the first draft. Its called for whom the bell tolls by Jaysea Lynn

@isaaczurich9272

Half Blood Blues by Esi Edugyan

@klarafrigola4361

This happened to me with The Blind Owl by Sadeq Hedayat!

@PumpkinMozie

I first heard about this book from Emily Fox’s channel. She absolutely loved this book and now you did too…I need to pick it up already haha

@donnamcqueeney9853

Circe by Madeline Miller

@leenakoponen5156

The Invocations by Krystal Sutherland ( witchy, dark and one of my favourite reads this year). Every Exquisite Thing by Laura Stevens and Little Thieves by Margaret Owen also. And just finished A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher, could not put it down!

@Rinn421

The picture of Dorian gray, Frenchman’s creek , and the diviners. ❤
