@JAMESRS58

During Trump's first term he added tariffs to steel and aluminum the result was 1,000 jobs added to Steel Mills but 75,000 jobs lost in manufacturers that use steel ..

@kay_mac138

Greed is the reason. Not unfair trade, not fentanyl, not immigrant crossings.

@lisafisher7132

I did not miss that he said, I can't guarantee that the media outlet that reporter is from will exist in a year." Sounds like a veiled threat to me.

@tanhome7

He’s right, there IS no reason for us to have a recession. Thanks to the idiot in charge, he has created this unnecessary shitstorm.

@cathyhargrove3258

It isn’t even about tariffs anymore. It is about the 35 million Canadians who are boycotting the U.S. It is the millions of Europeans and Australians who are now boycotting the U.S. Trump can’t tweet this away. It is millions of tourists who are no longer coming to the U.S.

@marcom2248

In Europe the boycott of Amazon, Disney, Netflix and McDonald's is growing. And of course the booking of trips to the US are declining too.

@Merlin-r6p

Poor Maria! If you sleep with the dogs, you’re going to get fleas.

@terirachelsims8928

Thank you, David. I don't see how you can remain and speak so calmly! I wonder why the tariffs don't start April 1 since they're the idea of a fool.

@runePV

hurting the rich fox host's wallet seems to be that one step too far

@reincarnatethylacine70

Giving Trump credit for understanding complex dynamics belies the fact of his malignant narscissism, appalling geo-poltical ignorance, well documented failure to take advice and finally His low intellectual level appropriate to his position. The simpler reality is that Trump is a loose cannon creating the unintended consequence of being catalytic to accellerating the decline of American hegemony.

@ebearlinaric4813

I'm a Canadian and enjoying listening and watching this program. congrats are your book release!

@science_and_facts_please

Tariffs are a tax on American businesses that import goods from foreign nations, collected by the U.S. government, with the revenue going to the U.S. Treasury. The cost of tariffs are passed on to the American consumer in the form of inflation. During Donald Trump's first presidency, his trade wars with China resulted in a U.S. trade deficit of $679 billion.

@ok1mon

If there was a tariff on right-wing stupid, we would have a balanced budget.

@stanleyhache1626

This is what happens when you appoint Billionaires into government positions... all of their approaches are aimed at increasing their own wealth, not for improving peoples' lives. North Korea anyone?

@andreawalli9477

Canada DOES test US meat and dairy. It's because the US allows hormones and antibiotics and we don't.

@CROM-on1bz

Most American food is not imported because it simply does not meet the minimum safety standards of EU health agencies. Our health systems simply cannot be overwhelmed by an influx of unsafe products.

@TheChiefEng

When American food products are tested in Europe, it is simply because American producers of food are famous for adding all kinds of additives to their food products and many of these additives just happen to be illegal for consumption in Europe.
This is nothing new but has been an integrated part of exporting American food products to Europe.
EU has some of the toughest laws and rules in places for food products. That's the way it has been set up so any country that would like to export food products to EU has to follow these specific and very tough laws and regulations regarding food safety.
Maria Bartiromo also once complained about American cars not being sold in Europe. There is actually also a very explanation to that. Most European cities and towns are older that even USA itself so many streets are simply not suited for large or very large vehicles. In Europe, buying a vehicle is a major decision where especially economy, second hand value and environment play large parts in the final decision. Europeans generally don't want too big cars or fuel guzzling cars.
However, the main reason for the drop in American exports to Europe right now is most likely a reaction to the rhetoric by the American president.

@mikeandrews9551

My wife was on a flight from Toronto to Miami yesterday and it was 1/3 full. Last year, same time, it was completely full. Travel to the USA is tanking.

@joejoego-nb2vi

Visiting the USA is unsafe now. Going on vacation and ending up in a detention center or El Salvador isn't anyone's idea of a vacation.
Visit Canada instead, the only ice we have is melting now and the only detention center if for hockey players. Tourists visiting and helping Canada will help send a message to USA and help Canada stand against Trumps insanity

@annaclarke7643

I’m so grateful to you David, dissecting and analysing all this technological information, and seeing through the BS we have to endure.
