Yo, imagine your family is sacrificed by Lycaon and Zeus comes to deliver punishment, only for you to end up being eating by a werewolf aka Lycaon. Smooth Zeus, smooth.
I did already know about this myth and I really love it. Lycaon, the First Werewolf.
A little extra information: Later on Lycaon is deified as a culture hero/daimon, thus he could also be considered a werewolf god (a minor deity obviously).
So Zeus is against people eating people, but turns people to werewolves that eats people. LOL.
This has quickly become one of my favorite channels. They way you guys bring the stories to life is amazing!
Good to see Zeus being a good guy
Lycaon: the first werewolf
A recurrent theme in Greek mythology and a general cultural aphorism was: "Everything in moderation; nothing in excess". One of the most sacred places in Greece, the temple of Apollo at Delphi, bore the inscription "Meden Agan" (μηδὲν ἄγαν) - 'Nothing in excess'. This story is a great example of this general principle: even gods should be worshiped in moderation; fanaticism is dangerous.
Werewolf is my favourite mythical creature......
I technically know all the Greek Mythology stories, they are sooooo goooooddd :3
I can feel my spine tingling the Howling at the end and the music I was listening to through the whole video
This Channel has got his roots deep inside this Mythology game.. It solved the mystery from where the Werewolves were..
Thank you-Ευχαριστούμε for showing Greek culture and stories!!!
And so the werewolves began their life as cursed monsters. Although what Zues would eventually realize that the very people he cursed would begin to embrace them as gifts to build their history.
I thought the original legend said that they fed Zeus, or attempted to feed him Lycones own youngest son he had killed purely to test his theory, and Zeus was not only horrified and furious at the prospect of them trying to trick him to eat human meat, but also to the horrific fact that he had killed his very own child to do it.
So basically Zeus said "So you degenerates want to act like beasts then you should have no problem looking like beasts."
This will go great in my greek dnd game
Wow, I've never heard this story before. Thank you for posting.
kinda feel this is more of a punishment to the citicens of Arcadia than to Lycaon and his family...would rather be the werewolf that be eaten by one
