As someone who's income is also mostly online and is considering permanently moving back home to China after half of my life spent in the US, the daily expenditure difference has always been the major appeal, but you've also shown how important it really is to be in an environment where it's safe to ride a bike to get groceries, vs buying whatever you feel like because there's room in the car. I've realized that since quitting, there is no real need to rush a permanent day-off, so the simple things like "having to walk/bike" become less about inconvenience and more about fulfillment, and that realization kickstarts a cycle towards an overall healthier active lifestyle of which you wouldn't need to then make time and set aside money for to achieve via the gyms and overpriced pseudo-healthy foods in the US. This really affirms that we're both onto something, thanks for keeping it real and transparent! π²
I feel you!!! I have left my corporate job for 2 years now and doing minimal freelancing here and there. The anxiety will become less and less when we gain deeper appreciation of what wealth truly means to us, and it's such a personal journey :) I LOVE YOUR EDITING!
YES ! I'm 27 years old Im still working my full-time job and attending school part-time in healthcare and honestly I really want to throw both of them in the garbage and pursue what I really want to do which is 3D Art !! Your video put me at easing knowing that I don't feel alone is this huge change in life :) !
I found your channel the day I quit my 9-5 job a month ago π I currently pursue my dream to become a graphic designer and spend the days teaching myself. It's not easy and I have upps and downs but I keep reminding myself that I made the right choice, finally listening to my intuition. I highly recommend reading the alchemist and a New earth, these books were major part of the inspiration to take that desicion Sending love to everyone π
your video skills (especially but not only the editing) are incredible!! you deserve to blow up (further), your videos feel like a piece of art (that also bring value)
your videos are my current source of comfort now that i am navigating a new chapter of my life aka the unemployed life between university and med school. ive learned in your videos that it is okay to not spend on things just to be on the same line with what we see on social media :>>>
I quit my job recently to travel and create content on YouTube after finishing med school and your videos are the constant reminder that its okay not to have everything figured out all the time or changed your career path π€ 继η»εθ§ι’οΌε ζ²ΉοΌ
I'm 29 and I also quit my last 10-7 office job last month. I came across your videos again and I remembered watching one of them talking about leaving your consultancy career for content creation full-time. This got me intrigued with your story, hence I'm watching you talk about living post employment with our savings while working on building our dreams. Likewise, I am educating myself on the many things a creative professional would do online from YT and IG. It isn't easy for me to acknowledge the fact that I don't have a lot of savings and I am hoping to land a job soon, while learning new marketing, branding, designing skills. God, it is really that stressful. I'm glad you shared your story in such an honest and authentic manner. I don't feel so lonely in this journey. Much love from Malaysia. :)
Wow.... so much cheaper living in the mainland. Food there is super affordable as well. I live in one of the most expensive places in the entire world atm. I also keep a record of all of my spending. On avg... I spend approx 1000HKD / month. My 80sq ft matchbox room alone ( no kitchen/ toilets/ windows ) cost a little over 3k hkd... but do get partial govn't subsidy due to health issues. So that, plus food, utilities... and everything comes up to around 1K hkd ( out of pocket ). Have to be EXTREMELY frugal to survive....
Finding this video was like a sign hahaha, I'm 29 as well, I just quit my job and I'm starting over in another city so it felt really refreshing and inspiring to see someone doing the same thing and how you manage to not just cut out every expense but have a nice balance, I loved it, you helped me a lot and won a new follower :D
I quit my job a few months ago and have come across your channel and found comfort in your videos. At the moment I'm not even sure if I want to stay in the industry that I spent the past few years working in, I'm just taking it one day at a time and really enjoying and embracing my creative side - knitting and crocheting.
I quit my job to stay at home with my kids and work on building a pottery business. It's slow going and I do rely on my partner as the main income for our family. But we are a team and my wife and I are on the same page. Your content is inspiring to see and how thoughtful you are about your lifestyle is a goal I have for myself. Thank you!
You look significantly happier and more lively in this video compared to the past ones. Good job !
Those looked like some dope Bahn Mis! I am 16 years older than you and am pursuing life outside of corp America. I've worked since I was a teenager. Enough is enough, this idea that you have to work until your mid-60s (or even later due to the economy) is vile, and it's inspiring to see people move away from this "life script".
Your Money Or Your Life is a completely life-changing book, I hope you enjoy it.
Lovely video as always. Small tip: take way less water at first when you make matcha so it becomes more like a paste. Way easier to avoid those matcha crumbs and get it mixed evenly <3
Love your videos. I miss Guangzhou, I lived there for 2 years, now I'm back home in Serbia, and last couple of weeks I am talking with my wife about going back to China. Hopefully I will convince her by the Chinese New Year πππ
I love your videos. As someone watching while working my corporate 9-5, ζηηεΎηΎ‘ζ δ½ εοΌπ As for thoughts on the digital nomad lifestyle, I feel like it has some negative connotations these days. Those are mostly because of people who have higher paying jobs and move to lower cost of living places to specifically take advantage of the resources, while not respecting the local community, culture, or laws. In some more popular destinations, the local communities have complained about rapid gentrification, cost of living going up too quickly, and disparity because of too much people coming into a small area that do not have all the resources to support the population. There has also been a couple of well known incidents that caused controversy online with certain individuals disrespecting local communities. But I feel like there has to be a way to be ethical and respectful and still do it if you have the right mindset.
love this, as someone who just quit their job I would love to learn more about your creative process and how you came to realize that you want to make a business off of your passion projects. Thank you for the video and all that you do to make this corner of the internet a highlight in my week :)
