Carl Czerny (1791 - 1857) was mainly known to me as composer of piano music and pupil of Beethoven. It was a nice surprise to find some good organ compositions from his hand, as shown by this prelude and fugue. The maestoso praeludium is followed by a rather traditional fugue.
I recorded the piece on the beta surround version of the Walcker/Eule organ, Annaberg. I used the big plenum sound in the preaeludium, which I tempered in the fugue, to keep more transparency.
