Czech Style Amber Lager Recipe and Tasting - Homebrew Jar of Destiny

The first of our 13th picks from the Jar of Destiny brings us BJCP category 3C Czech Amber Lager.

Mike brewed this beer. His focus was to combine the malty and bready notes of an amber lager with that spicey and herbal continental hop character of the Saaz hops.

This beer was crisp, malty without being sweet. There was a nice herbal and earthy note on the nose. The flavor was reminiscent of wheat bread crust. The hop flavor was perfectly zippy and spicy from those Saaz hops.

The Czech Pils Yeast from Wyeast really did a great job on this beer. It really helps find a great balance between the malt and the hops to create a super balanced amber lager.
