1) Trust in divine justice.
Ish Bosheth’s murder shows the problems that come from trying to gain power in the wrong way. These men thought betraying their leader would make them look good to David, but it only led to their own downfall. David’s reaction reveals his trust in God’s justice rather than using schemes and tricks to secure his position as king. In your own life, resist the temptation to succeed or solve problems in dishonest or unfair ways. Trust that being honest and following God’s ways will bring true success.

2) Honor and integrity in leadership
David’s actions after Ish-Bosheth’s murder show the importance of remaining honorable and honest, even with your enemies. He made sure Ish-Bosheth received a proper burial, thus showing respect for him and keeping his dignity. In any role you have, treat everyone with respect and fairness, even if you don’t agree or get along with them. When you’re in a position to take advantage of someone else’s problems, choose to act with kindness and honesty instead. This might mean giving credit where it’s deserved or supporting someone who is struggling instead of using their weaknesses against them. Always strive to act in a way that honors God and others.

Prayer: Lord, help us to seek Your righteousness and justice in our decisions. Grant us the wisdom to trust in Your help during tough times, rather than taking matters into our own hands. In Jesus’ Name. Amen!
