“And said to him, `Go throughout the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that are done in it.’”

1) The importance of repentance.
In Ezekiel’s vision, those who were distressed by the city's sins were marked for salvation. This teaches us that true repentance—feeling genuine sorrow for our own sins and the sins around us—is vital. It’s not just about feeling sad; it’s about wanting to change and turn back to God. Look at your own life and the world around you. Where do you see things that go against God’s ways? Let this discomfort lead you to pray and take action, not just feel upset. Ask for forgiveness for your mistakes and for the strength to stand up against sin in your surroundings.
2) Assurance of salvation.
In Ezekiel’s vision, the people who were marked were saved from judgment, symbolizing the Holy Spirit’s mark on believers. This mark assures us of our salvation and shows that God is with us, setting us apart from those who don’t follow His ways. Live confidently knowing you are marked by God. Let this assurance guide how you handle challenges and temptations. Stand strong in your faith. Use this confidence to be bold in sharing your faith and kind in your interactions, knowing you are secure in God’s salvation and protected by the Holy Spirit.
Prayer: Lord, give me a true sense of repentance and confidence in Your salvation. Help me live as someone marked by Your Spirit, showing Your grace and truth in everything I do. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
