Spring 1969, it has been 4 years since the Americans started to fight in Vietnam. In the United States, anti-war organizations are getting bigger and on the battlefield, the war effort is crumbling. Using pictures of a 20-year-old American soldier, Dan Love, the film relates this critical year. During his “Vietnam Tour”, a mechanic, working on the Phu Loi base around Saigon, is immersed into the difficult times of war. Through his own picture book, the documentary reveals how war interacts with his personality; and how fear, danger and solidarity transform him. His pictures, a true reflection of his youth and his convictions, immerse us into the daily and sensitive vision of a man who dares to speak out about his doubts and his fragility. At the end of this journey, Dan Love will have lost his innocence.
