STS-1 Launch - Tracking Plane Views, Stabilized, AI deinterlace 60fps, upscale, audio, space shuttle

Tracking plane camera views of the first space shuttle launch on April 1981. The sequence is shown in stabilized and original versions.

AI upscale (Topaz AI) was used to deinterlace the the 480i60 video sequence to 1080p60 HD resolution, restoring the original 60 fps. While it works in most cases, some artifacts are present in some sequences.

Sound and image cleanup, conversion to original frame rate, stabilization, AI upscale and color restoration by RetroSpace HD.

STS-1 (Space Transportation System-1) was the first orbital spaceflight of NASA's Space Shuttle program. The first orbiter, Columbia, launched on April 12, 1981, and returned on April 14, 1981, having orbited the Earth 37 times. Columbia carried a crew of two—mission commander John Young and pilot Robert Crippen.
