Zechariah 8:1-13, KV 13
“Just as you, Judah and Israel, have been a curse among the nations,
so I will save you, and you will be a blessing. Do not be afraid, but let your hands be strong.”

1) Too marvelous to imagine.
God gave a wonderful promise of what restored Jerusalem would look like, filled with joy and community life. He would come to dwell in the city, and it would be called “Faithful City” (v. 3). It was a beautiful picture, yet God asked, “It may seem marvelous to the remnant of this people at that time, but will it seem marvelous to me?” When we face tough times, the promise of a bright future can seem impossible to imagine. We want to believe God’s promises in His Word, but our fear, doubt, and pessimism block our faith. Jesus said in Matthew 19:26, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Do you believe that nothing is impossible for God? When He lives and rules in our hearts, He will bless and use us in ways we can’t even imagine. Let’s not focus on our situation but trust in what God can do.
2) Hope inspires action.
The promise of a fruitful and joyful future not only provided hope but also called for action—rebuilding the temple. In the same way, the Christian hope of eternal life should inspire us to work diligently for God's kingdom now, sharing God’s word and raising followers of Jesus Christ. Does the hope of resurrection and eternal life motivate you in your daily life? Does it shape and influence your long-term goals? It’s important to see ourselves not only as followers of Jesus, but also as builders of God’s kingdom, making a lasting difference. When we go to church, let's not sit on the sidelines. Instead, let's actively serve, mentor, and love others, knowing we’re helping build God’s eternal kingdom.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the hope You provide that not only comforts me, but also calls me to action. Empower me through Your Holy Spirit to participate in building Your kingdom here on earth, inspired by the amazing future You have promised. Help me to work diligently, knowing that my labor in the Lord is not in vain. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
