Maurice Duruflé’s Chant Donné is a brief yet profound composition that encapsulates the essence of his musical artistry. Composed in 1953, this piece was part of a collection titled Soixante-quatre leçons d’harmonie offertes en hommage à Jean Gallon, honoring Duruflé’s esteemed harmony professor at the Paris Conservatoire. 
Originally crafted as a harmony exercise, Chant Donné transcends its academic purpose, offering a glimpse into Duruflé’s deep appreciation for Gregorian chant and modal harmonies. I published this piece before, played with different organs. This time, with a Dutch organ with a typical Dutch registration. I hope to inspire others to play it to. It's one of the most beautiful pieces I've ever come across.
