Santipur: Saree, temples and memories of Lord Sri Chaitanya

Santipur is a great place to visit on a short tour from Kolkata to get some taste of History as well as for some great 'Tant' saree.

Santipur is easily accessible from Kolkata by train or car. It is a #heritage town which boasts of a cultural history as old as Bengal. Shi Chaitanya visited this town several times and it has become one of the holy lands for Gaudiya Vaishnavism.
This historical town is also famous for its textiles including handwoven #sarees. It is also one of the biggest markets for "Tant" or #handloom produced saree. Numerous saree wholesalers dot the town.
