Most Beautiful Dominant Chord In C major? 😍 #jazzguitar

There's a lot more to Dominant chords than you think. Here are 5 dominant chords that resolve to C major, 2 of them are a bit controversial, and most have a subdominant function 🤯

Overview:
Example 1: V - I
Example 2: bVII - I
Bb7 is a minor subdominant: Think of it as Fm6 with a Bb in the Bass
Example 3: subV - I
Db7 shares the tritone F-B with G7 which is the foundation for this substitution.
Example 4: #IVdd - I
#IV double diminished is F# Ab C Eb, which is an inversion of Ab7.
Example 5: [V](III) - I
B7(b9) is a reharmonization of F# diminished (it is F#dim with a B in the Bass) that resolves nicely to Cmaj7. You'll find it in a lot of songs harmonizing the leading note instead of the V chord because it sounds less obvious like that, usually always with a IIø chord as well.
