A house in Labrador had its roof ripped off as Tropical Cyclone Alfred lashed Queensland’s coast overnight.

The storm left nearly 240,000 homes and businesses without power, with destructive winds and heavy rain bringing down trees and powerlines.

Alfred has now been downgraded to a tropical low, but strong winds and persistent rainfall continue to raise flood concerns.
