Daily Bread
1) Extend kindness from a position of strength.
David used his role as king to help Mephibosheth, keeping his promise to Jonathan. This shows us that we should use our positions—such as being a leader, a team member, or someone with influence—to support others, not just ourselves. If you're in a position where you can make a difference, use it to help those who are struggling, whether at school, in your social life, or personally. Offering real support and kindness helps us build others up, not tear them down. As 1 Thessalonians 5:11 says, “Encourage one another and build each other up.”
2) Courage to accept kindness and change.
Mephibosheth’s life changed because David’s kindness pulled him from despair and offered him a new beginning. Similarly, we often need to step out of our comfort zones to embrace the blessings and changes God offers. This might mean accepting help, pursuing new opportunities, or trying something that feels intimidating. When was the last time you stepped out in faith and took a risk? It may mean volunteering to lead a project, seeking counseling, or getting involved in serving at your church. Trust that God’s plans include great blessings and be courageous enough to embrace these changes.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for the kindness You show us daily. Help me to extend that kindness to others and have the courage to step out of my comfort zone to embrace the life You have prepared for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
