Hideki Tojo - 1944 | Movietone Moment | 21 February 2025

On this day in 1944, Hideki Tojo became Japan's army chief of staff, gaining direct control over military operations. Here is a British Movietone report showing scenes from the War Crimes Trial in Tokyo.

MS Tojo with Okawa seated behind him. Okawa leans forward and slaps Tojo's bald head. Tojo grins. Okawa taken out of court by American escort. Court re-sit. Okawa is seen to be praying, crying etc.
