“My lord will not have on his conscience the staggering burden of needless bloodshed or of having avenged himself. And when the Lord your God has brought my lord success, remember your servant.”
Daily Bread
1) The power of wise choices.
Abigail acted quickly and wisely when she heard that David was angry and coming to her home, bringing food and supplies to calm David and his men. This shows us the importance of paying attention to what's happening around us and of thinking carefully before we react. As a student, when you face conflicts or problems, try to handle them early on before they get worse. Like Abigail, use wisdom and good judgment to deal with tough situations and make sure your actions help create peace and understanding.
2) The importance of humble wisdom.
Abigail approached David with humility and respect, even though she was from a high social class. By doing so, she protected her household and reminded David of his spiritual duties and the bigger picture of his life. Her humble and wise words turned David away from revenge to doing what was right. When you face difficult situations or need to talk to someone about a problem, do it with humility. Remember that your goal is not to win an argument but to create understanding and find a solution. Approach each situation with a prayerful heart, aiming to keep relationships strong instead of just proving a point.
Prayer: Lord, help me to act with good judgment and humility, especially in times of crisis. Teach me to think and act in ways that honor You and reflect Your purpose for my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
One Word: Be humble and wise!
