John 21:1-14, KV 12
“Jesus said to them, `Come and have breakfast.’
None of the disciples dared ask him, `Who are you?’ They knew it was the Lord.”

Daily Bread
1) Jesus is our true friend.
After Jesus’ death, the disciples were discouraged and sorrowful as they tried returning to their fisherman’s lifestyle (v. 3). The shameful memory of how they ran away in fear when Jesus was led to His crucifixion probably lingered in their mind. But in their guilty sense, Jesus called out, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?” (v. 5). What a loving Savior we have that even in our deepest regrets and shame, He still calls us His friends. When we feel guilty because of our sin, we shouldn’t try to run away, hide, or return to our worldly lifestyles. Instead, we should open our eyes to see that Jesus is still there calling out to us. Then, like Peter, we should hurry to meet with Him! Leaving behind our guilt and self-condemnation, we should go to Jesus, trusting in His unconditional love and amazing grace.

2) Jesus nourishes and refreshes us.
After a long night, Jesus didn’t just give advice; He made a meal for His disciples. Imagine how cool it must have been to have breakfast with God in the flesh! God loves us so deeply that He supports us in every way—spiritually, physically, and emotionally. Sometimes, we think that Jesus is only part of our spiritual lives, but He also helps us with everyday problems like school stress, relationship issues, or personal struggles. Look for Jesus in the small challenges of life. Pray for His guidance, believing that He also cares about the small challenges in our lives. Nothing is too small or too big for God! Remember that His Word can turn your daily struggles into opportunities for growth and success.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for meeting me in my daily struggles and for providing for all my needs. Help me to see Your hand in every part of my day and to rely on You for nourishment and strength. In Jesus’ Name. Amen!
