Galatians 5:1-15, KV 13
“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.”

1) Obeying God’s word by faith in Jesus Christ.
Paul's message in Galatians is simple: Christ has set us free. We need to stand firm in that freedom and not be weighed down by the burden of the law. As we grow in Christ, we want to follow God's word, but we shouldn't become too focused on rules. Remember, we can never follow the law perfectly! We strive to obey God’s word, but must do so by faith in Christ, not legalistically. Let’s love God’s word as a guide to live in a way that pleases Him, not as a way to prove ourselves or earn our salvation.

2) Freedom to love and serve.
Being set free by Christ isn't a license to live selfishly; rather, it's an empowerment to serve others in love. This freedom should propel us to act selflessly and care for those around us, reflecting the love of Christ in our communities. Christ has given us a new life. How are you making the most of that life? A Christian missionary once said, “The way we spend our time defines who we are." Think about ways you can spend your time wisely so that it reflects your new life in Christ. Consider how you can step out of your comfort zone to boldly live out the freedom Jesus purchased for you: by sharing His word, serving Him, and living more closely to Him.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the freedom I have in Christ. Help me not to live for myself but to use this freedom to serve others and to spread Your love. Keep me from falling back into the trap of legalism and help me to live a life that truly reflects Your grace. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
