Kerri Evers is a doula who supports parents through childbirth at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. She is part of a unique program that provides doulas to help mothers through labor, delivery, and postpartum care after the baby is born – and at no charge to parents. Kerri uses aromatherapy, massage, reflexology, birthing balls and bars, and her handheld fan, and she encourages parents through contractions and the birth, coaching them with breathing and positioning techniques. “I’m here to help encourage you and help you have the birth experience that you desire,” Kerri says. “Being a doula is part of my life’s work.” See Kerri on the job with three moms. healthmatters.nyp.org/a-day-in-the-life-of-a-doula…
