The ten-year rule of the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi has ended with a stunning defeat at the hands of the BJP. Along with it, Arvind Kejriwal has been humbled by the Delhi voters who gave him unprecedented two term landslide mandates.
Jist News Director Rahul Shrivastava spoke to three people who have closely watched the rise and fall of the Aam Aadmi Party -
Yashwant Deshmukh, Director C-Voter; Professor Anand Kumar, Academic & Ex-AAP Member; and Aadesh Rawal, Senior Journalist, Lokmat Group.
They gave three angles for AAP's failure. First, the crumbling of AAP's image in the wake of Sheesh Mahal controversy. Second, the AAP became a victim of its own incompetence as the people of Delhi grew weary with their excuses for inaction. Third, the Congress knew it stood no chance of winning in Delhi but it still contested on its own because it wanted AAP to be defeated at any cost.
