“Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
Daily Bread
1) Seeing beyond the physical.
When Jesus appeared to His disciples and showed them the wounds from His crucifixion, it wasn't just to prove He was alive; it was to show that true victory and healing can include scars. Jesus' scars were proof of His triumph over death and pain, teaching us that our own scars, whether emotional or physical, are not signs of defeat but symbols of endurance and overcoming. Embrace your personal challenges and hardships as part of your growth. Share your struggles and victories with your friends to encourage and uplift each other, showing that everyone has battles and scars and that these are part of becoming stronger and more resilient in our faith.
2) Faith beyond sight.
Doubting Thomas needed to see to believe, and many of us can relate to that feeling. Jesus understood this need for physical proof but blessed those who believe without seeing. This teaches us the value of faith—that true belief often means trusting in what we can’t see or fully understand. Are there areas in your life where you’re waiting to see results but should be trusting God instead? Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Let’s aim for genuine faith and get to know God more deeply, so we don’t rely on tangible evidence but simply trust in Him.
Prayer: Father, thank You for showing us through Jesus that our scars are part of our story of victory in Him. Help me trust even when I cannot see and strengthen my faith as I grow in my journey with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
One Word: Have eyes of faith and trust in Jesus!
