I'd forgotten what a gem this one was. It was the second flight I'd done after my self-imposed grounding in February 2023, after I'd been cleared by all the specialists to fly. Great weather and good timing to go to KAMN. This was the flight that taught me that when talking to either ATC or Unicom, pilots often use the name of the adjacent city (Alma) rather than the airport name (Gratiot) when identifying an airport on the radio. A good friend gave me a call on the Unicom when I entered the pattern; my acknowledgement was brief because at the time I was trying to remain semi-incognito. The coincidence of the Twin Beech arrival amazed me; although I've yet to meet the owner we have a friend in common who restores Twin Beeches. (I have a grand adventure scheduled with that mutual friend in May; STAY TUNED) I had a lot of fun editing this one; that 360 degree right turn was used in my video "The Pilots That Don't Go Anywhere". Inbound to PTK I got to talk with my favorite controller. I don't know her name but I'm sure you recognize her voice from other banter we shared. When I taxied back and said "kill the nav lights" I meant I was killing the strobe lights. Watching this video reminds me yet again of how much I miss flying my RV-8, and how much I'm not at all done with flying yet.
