🌳 The Kayapo people's story is one of resilience, courage, and hope. Their vast territory of over 24 million acres serves as a crucial stronghold of biodiversity on the frontlines of deforestation in the southeastern Amazon.

The Kayapo have strategically placed guard posts along their over 1,300-mile border, with regular foot and boat patrols, which serve to safeguard their ratified land rights. This protection deters invaders such as loggers, miners, and illegal fishermen from attempting entry.

🟢 Together The Kayapo Project, Coletivo Beture, Mullu, and @rewild are calling on the world’s leaders at #COP16 to recognize and safeguard Indigenous Peoples’ knowledge, traditional ways of governance, and management of our planet’s irreplaceable ecosystems as a critical solution to the interrelated climate, biodiversity loss, and human wellbeing crises.
